Event Description
GYLI and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) will host the 2009 Institute for Student Leaders (ISL) in Costa Rica.
The main theme of the 2009 ISL will be Global Water Issues. Hands-on learning from projects at EARTH University will accompany student and faculty discussions and simulations of water issues in the world. One highlight of the 2009 ISL will be a 3-day home stay. Students will stay together in small groups in family homes, immersed in the everyday life of Costa Rican families that practice sustainable farming. Other programmed activities during the ISL will serve to build trust, communication and negotiation skills across cultural differences.
