The work I do revolves around peace building and violence prevention. I do simulated villages which are like intense, interactive learning sites, where I get students from various parts of the country and the world to work together with experts in the peace studies and conflict resolution fields on various issues in various settings. Last year our learning was around the holocaust and ethnic strife and we were in Trinidad. This year our projects focus on the plight of the elderly and bridging the gap between generations. We will have two projects this summer one in Massachusetts and one in the blue mountains of Jamaica. The one in MA will include youth 14-19 who come from various parts of the country and will be at the Espousal retreat center, Waltham July 6-11. The one in Jamaica is 12-21 year August 2-15 and includes local youth as well as youth from various parts of the world. You might be interested in getting involved as a facilitator (we are looking for 1 more for MA) and you students might be interested as well.

Have a look at our website www.multiculturalvillage.org and give me a call if you are interested. I leave for Jamaica in the morning to attend some planning meetings but will be back on Friday.
