Hi Suzanne, I have not tried it out. The first schools to take a look are just now getting back into the swing of things (in Africa mostly). I would love to get feedback on it and then publish a version with layout, more resources, and some teacher…

Hi David, Thank you for posting the curriculum. I looked through it and I really like it! It has a nice mixture of personal reflection and different ways for students to assess their involvement with the project. I also like the fact that students…

Hi David et al,

I need your help.

I'm looking for other global educators interested in building a long-term relationship. The goal will be to work out all the kinks running projects together in different time zones and with different types of students.

I am in the early stage process of conceptualizing and building student design challenges related to appropriate-scale bioreactors for:

1. Algal biodiesel production
2. Bioethanol fermentation (starting with starchy root feedstocks)
3. Waste bioremediation
4. Closed-loop ecosystems for manned space exploration

I can't do this alone. I have a vision that much of this work will be done with student collaborators. Teachers will simply set up the design challenges, provide design criteria, tools for collaboration and provide some pointers towards sources of information.

I was hoping to find a way to offer these ideas to your global challenge community.

Hi David -

Glad to you meet you at NECC! You left the restaurant before I could really tap your brain! Next year, we'll have to chat more extensively!

It looks fantastic - the children at my school are too young for this, however it looks like it could be an excellent starting point to adapt some of the points and get the children thinking...will work on this one when I get time over the summer - there must be a way to adapt it I'm sure..

I put our Global Challenge video into this site's collection. Take a look! The idea is for a high school student to form a 4-person international team, then work for a year and submit a business plan that addresses global warming and the future of energy. We judge and award scholarships each year. Over $60,000 was awarded in 2007.
