Going Global: Culture Shock, Convergence, and the Future of Education

Cross-posted on the K12Online Conference blog I could not be more honored to be the pre-conference keynote speaker for this year’s K12 Online conference! I have been participating in this annual conference since its inception in 2006 and every year I am amazed at the quality of presentations shared by educators around the world. The opportunity to [...]

How To Connect Your Students Globally

Cross-posted on the TechLearning Advisors Blog Two weeks after returning from the Flat Classroom Workshop in Hong Kong, I am still inspired and energized about what learning could (and should) look like. The key component for me was connecting students, both face to face and virtually, from a variety of backgrounds to work together to solve a [...]

Reflections on the Flat Classroom Workshop

Last weekend I had the honor of co-leading the Flat Classroom Workshop (pictures here) with Julie Lindsay at the 21st Century Learning Conference in Hong Kong. I have to admit that although I knew it would be amazing after everything I had heard about the Flat Classroom Conference in Doha earlier this year, I had [...]

Workshop ‘Till You Drop

Once again, this school year is shaping up to be my busiest yet! (Seriously, how is it even possible to be any busier?) In addition to moving into a slightly new role and continuing to teach courses for our SUNY Certificate of Educational Technology and Information Literacy, I’m also very excited to be involved in a [...]

Difficult Conversations

One of the things I’m enjoying most about being on our coaching team here at ISB is the opportunity to openly share our challenges so that we can all work together to improve our practice. This week we had our first book club meeting to discuss the first chapter of Coaching: Approaches and Perspectives edited [...]

Hello Kim:
Im in Puerto Rico right now and checking we have a 12 hours difference. As a Spanish teacher made a change and started studying to become a school librarian. Reading your blog was very interesting. My husband is a Civil engineer and helps me with my studies and dreams to make my students better citizens.
Im interested in doing something with your kids.

Kim,

I believe you have done some work with Alecia Berman-Dry at St. John's Episcopal School. I used to work at St. John's but now am at The Key School in Annapolis, MD.

I teach an 8th Grade Global Studies class and am looking to form a partnership with middle school students somewhere in Asia/Oceania.

Would you be interested in pursuing this possiblity?

Yours,
Jonathan Oglesbee

Hi Kim -

You need to "meet" my new friend Kathleen Czop... she's taught at a variety of international schools including one in Cambodia, and now she's at a boarding school in Colorado. Very funny and interesting person! I invited her to join this group, and I'm hoping she takes me up on the invitation!
