Hey, what's going on with potentially going to Algeria?!? Do tell! Inquiring minds want to know!

Glad to see you on the video conference the other night! I'll probably be in Boston for the Alan November conference this summer and we'll have to catch up then.

Thar she blows! Interested in whales? Communites? Collaborations? read on....

Our multiage class (6 and 7 year olds) is studying whaling. Using a whaling chart from 1851, artifacts which sailors brought back to Martha's Vineyard, and a young girl's journal from her trip with her father in 1862, our students will re-create local history and discover how places around the world have had an impact on their community.

We would like to invite you to share your community with us, about your location now and then, your geography, your folk songs/sea shanties.

We are particularly interested in ports commonly visited by Martha's Vineyard whaling ships, but all are welcome to learn with us.

in the United States:
New Bedford, MA
San Francisco, CA

South America:
Chile
Ecuador
Peru

Pacific:
Fiji Islands
Galapagos Islands
Japan
New Zealand (especially Bay of Islands, Kaitai)
Sunday Island
West coast of Canada

Africa:
Azores
Canary Islands

If you are interested, please let me know, I am hoping we can begin working together in mid February or the beginning of March.

Thanks so much.

Languages: any - but we can communicate in English, Spanish, Portuguese and German.

Age level: 5 through 18 years old

It's the world's smallest mobile video player. Here it is. The only drawback is that the battery life seems very short. I love gadgets like this.:)

Hey Valerie,

Would love to do something collaborative next year!

On a personal note, my parents used to take us to Martha's Vineyard every year for summer holidays - they would be so jealous knowing that you get to live there!
