Global Education Projects Sponsored By You or That You're Involved In:: I helped found and grow a New Mexico-based non-profit called Journeys in Film - Educating for Global Understanding. We write curricular materials based on foreign-language films as a tool for bringing the world into middle and high school classrooms. JiF lessons are standards-based and infuse global perspective into core academics (math,science, language arts, social sciences, arts - as well as media literacy, cultural studies, community service learning and more).

Languages Spoken:: Latvian + English (fluent), French (proficient), German (beginner), Russian (survival).

About Me:: My passion is the world - understanding it, holding it, experiencing it! Being raised as a first generation American in a WWII Latvian refugee family resulted in heightened sensibilities around issues such as culture change, acculturation, and norms, values, roles - and how they change depending on the social milieu. I have had the opportunity to work with the US Peace Corps, Soros Foundation / Open Society Institute, Berlitz International, and Journeys in Film - as well as numerous other small projects and initiatives.
